An intelligent approach to hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) exists naturally in all living creatures. One should never forget 70% of the body is made up of water. Cells are naturally filled with water and they only function properly when there is an optimal amount of water present. We all experience how weak we feel when we do not drink enough water; it is roughly the same for individual skin cells. The water comes from the extracellular water that is maintained by glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), hyaluronic acid is one of them, ensuring that the intracellular water is adequate to support normal cell functioning.
Hyaluronic Acid has the extraordinary ability to attract and hold 1000 times its weight in water. It assists the skin in preventing all the moisture from leaving the skin.
What causes a deficiency in HA?
There are many factors that result in the natural depletion of HA such as:
- Intrinsic ageing factors (internal physiological factors)
- Extrinsic ageing factors (environmental and lifestyle factors)
- Manual granular exfoliating can also remove the fine protective layer of the skin which enables moisture to easily escape.
How to replace what's been lost?
Topical application of hyaluronic acid proves effective to assist in replenishing the levels of natural moisture in the skin. If skin is particularly dry, topical HA skin care products will assist to promote a more smooth, plumped and youthful-looking appearance. However, hyaluronic acid is a large molecule, and can't be effectively absorbed into the skin. Which is why Environ intelligently delivers the powerful benefits of HA in another form. Even though this is a wonderful molecule, should everyone be using HA as part of their skincare routine? Environ's scientific director, Dr Des Fernandes shares his insight on this
Environ's intelligent approach to getting HA to where it's needed most.
Environ uses a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid form – sodium hyaluronate (a salt form) for more effective absorption into the skin. It's well documented that low to medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid fragments can also be a powerful stimulus to the CD44 receptors that naturally produces hyaluronic acid in the skin. Sodium hyaluronate mimics naturally found HA in the skin, and delivers all the same powerful benefits of being able to bind and hold onto significant amounts of water. It's non-irritating to skin and is usually well-tolerated by sensitive skins.
Focus on flawless. Focus on Moisture+
Environ's Focus Care™ Hydrating Serum contains a high concentration of low molecular weight sodium hyaluronate may help improve the appearance of dehydration to help the skin look visibly smoother, plumper, and more resilient.
How to optimise absorption?
When Hyaluronic Acid is used in conjunction with cosmetic needling or in association with low frequency sonophoresis, the skin can appear to be visibly more hydrated and feel plumped up within a few days of the first application.
Dr Des Fernandes elaborates:
The gold standard of skin tech.
As the skin is designed as a barrier to penetration, Dr Des pioneered the concept of micro-needling as a highly effective way of getting more of the nutrients into your skin. Environ's cosmetic needling devices such as the Gold Cosmetic Roll-CIT® are designed with fewer, shorter surgical grade stainless steel needles. This promotes more effective micro-needling with no pain and little risk of damage to the skin. All rollers are housed in hygienic, protective outer casings. By rolling your skin frequently, you can optimise the benefits of the powerful ingredients in Environ's Intensive Hydrating Serum.
Environ holds true to the pursuit of beautiful skin, and to the science that has taken a lifetime to perfect. Ask your skincare professional to get you started on your journey to reborn beautiful skin.
