Importance of vitamin A for skin
A well-known quote from the founder and formulator of Environ® Dr Des Fernandes states: “ageing skin is a direct result of sun-induced vitamin-A deficiency. Correct the deficiency and you’ll have more radiant skin”. Simply put, everything that defines healthy, normal skin is a direct result of vitamin A skin care.
Vitamin A is the only known molecule that keeps the skin healthy and helps to provides anti-ageing benefits. A vitamin A deficiency could lead to skin abnormalities such as pigmentation irregularities, sun damage, ageing, and skin cancer. Most skin cancers are associated with a low level of vitamin A in the skin.
The most common skincare problem in both men and women is sun-damage, and the long-term effects of sun exposure are sinister. In order for us to combat this sun-induced vitamin-A deficiency, we must replenish vitamin A in our cells every day and for this process to be effective, we need to restore our vitamin A receptors.
All forms of vitamin A will be metabolised into Retinoic acid. This acid compound works on the DNA to create healthy, well-hydrated skin, with normal sebum secretion, as well as a smooth and healthy horny layer.
Dr Des knew that vitamin A was essential for life which is why it the cornerstone ingredient in the Environ skin care philosophy. It must be replaced daily for skin to appear healthier and more resilient and resulted in the creation of the world's first Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™
Vitamin A skin care helps skin to become gradually more comfortable with increased levels of vitamin A and other ingredients that keep skin looking healthy and beautiful by: promoting natural moisturising factors in dry skin and strengthening the barrier layer, promoting natural collagen formation, improving nourishment, supporting the immune system of the skin and minimising the development of skin cancers.
